Overview of role
This is a part-time role for a native-level Mandarin speaker:
6 teaching periods per week + time to support students or do class cover. The remaining time is for PPA, collaboration and meetings.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Teach Mandarin to Secondary students - immersion approach
- Organise and collaborate on MFL department events
- Prepare, coordinate and plan curriculum with the MFL team
- Assess students formatively & summatively against criteria of the French curriculum and the English International programme
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including technologies and project-based activities to increase student learning and confidence
- Use differentiation
- Incorporate the mission and values of the school into every class
- Use long and short range planning to ensure the curriculum is met and aligned with the School standards
- Provide meaningful assignments and feedback to students
- Maintain up-to-date records of assessment, attendance, planning, reports, and communication with parents/guardians
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and class meetings

- QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant degree
- Native-level Mandarin speaker with solid linguistic and cultural knowledge
- At least 3 years of previous experience teaching in a similar role, preferably in an international environment
- Curriculum development knowledge
- Familiarity with iPad apps for teaching and learning
- Good communication and organisation skills
- A passion for education and making a difference
