A Vacancy at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.
Here at the university hospitals Dorset (UHD), we are looking for a highly diligent conscientious professional to work as a Specialist Cancer Services Systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) verifier.
This is an exciting innovative role for a registered nurse or pharmacy technician or a pharmacist to be imbedded within our UHD clinical pharmacy cancer team to support the delivery of SACT. Within our team we value all our team members and their development.
The post holder will:
• Verify SACT prescriptions based on the BOPA verification standards.
• Participate in delivering, developing and evaluating high quality SACT related services to cancer services within UHD.
• Assist the lead clinical cancer pharmacist to promote cost-effective and safe prescribing of SACT therapy and supportive care.
• Provide clinical services to oncology and haematology across Poole & Bournemouth.
• Provide professional cancer services support to other pharmacy staff.
• The post holder will act as a senior representative within the cancer pharmacy team, developing and building relationships with other team members and staff.
The post is full-time (37.5 hours per week). Expected weekend shifts of 1 in 5 (either Saturday or Sunday) and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year.
Base Location: University Hospital Dorset - Across Poole & Bournemouth hospital sites

• Working in haematology and oncology and the Aseptic Production Unit performing clinical screening of chemotherapy.
• Participating in clinical pharmacy meetings and contributing to the clinical pharmacy service as appropriate by liaising with all pharmacists and departmental management.
• Providing complex medicines information to patients, carers, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
• Undertaking projects that will improve the quality of patient care and/or contribute to effective drugs budget management within the directorate.
• Reviewing and assisting in the development of medication related policies, guidelines and audits in this specialist area
• Clinically screen Intravenous and Oral chemotherapy prescriptions for haematology and oncology patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
• Works within operational parameters, agreed standard procedures and systems of work at all times thus ensuring a high level of patient safety is maintained.
