Job description
Our water client currently has an opportunity for a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team located in Basildon.
Job Description:
This position will require the successful candidate to carry out the following essential activities:
- Adapt knowledge from one programming system and apply to another
- Create clear and functional SCADA / HMI display
- Create Functional Design Specification (FDS) from clients
Specification (URS)
· Carry out and document Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing
(SAT) and site commissioning.
- Read and understand Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
- Understand computer programming fundamentals and logic
- Interpret functional requirements to aid design and implement control panels, PLC
code and HMI displays
- Provide telephone support including fault finding diagnostics
- Use fault find software (including software by others)
- Configure instrumentation
- Carry out electrical and mechanical / machining modifications to control panels
(including on site).
- Resolve problems to ensure plant operation (temporary fixes if necessary)
- Fault find electrical circuits
- Design electrical circuits
- Design practical control panel layouts
- Read and understand electrical schematics
- Employee insurance
Requirements
Essential:
- An excellent team player able to work within a developing business and provide guidance to junior staff members when required.
- Good Engineering background and experience in electrical / controls and panel building.
- Good knowledge of system instrumentation.
- Flexibility and Versatility (including site attendance globally when required).
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC or equivalent & HMI Systems.
- Experience with Remote Monitoring System design and integration
Desirable:
- Relevant degree or HND.
- Experience in the areas of design, build and software for panels.
- Familiarity with the regulatory aspects of control panel design.
- General electrical understanding
- Good understanding of IT.
