About the role
To assist the Litigation Officer with joint reporting responsibilities to the Credit Manager. Based in our Finance Head Office in Syston, Leicester, the purpose of this role is to manage a portfolio of referred delinquent accounts pursuing recovery through the legal process to enforcement stage and monitoring any agreed repayment arrangements for the business and associated companies.
What you will be doing
• Assessing referrals to establish debt recovery efforts have been fully exhausted
• Considering the viability of issuing proceedings (debt value vs anticipated costs)
• Making appropriate bad debt provisions and updating as required
• Tracing absconded debtors
• Conducting HM Land registry searches to identify freehold assets
• Drafting Particulars of Claim
• Lodging claims via the CCBC / Proclaim system
• Responding to Defences lodged
• Attending court hearings
• Attending mediation hearings
• Negotiating settlements to avoid costs
• Enforcement action of Judgment Orders obtained
• Outsourcing work to appointed solicitors or collection agents
• Monitoring & recording progress of all actions - reporting monthly to the Litigation Officer and Credit Manager
• Covering for the Litigation Officer during absence from the office
• General support for the credit control dept during busy periods
About You

• An understanding of the full legal recovery process but training will be provided
• Working knowledge of legal instruments and Court documentation
• Excellent time management and ability to work to specific deadlines is a pre-requisite
• Strong negotiator and query resolution ability
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word & Excel
