Job description

To be responsible for the daily operational duties of the practice in line with the PMS contract; CQC and statutory responsibilities. The post holder will take responsibility for the smooth running of the surgery. Working effectively within the management team in order to maintain a happy and committed practice team. Supporting the partners and Management team in developing the services offered by the practice, facilitating the process of continuous improvement and ensuring legal and contractual requirements are met. Key responsibilities will include staff management and training, CQC compliance and information governance. General practice continues to change and the post holder will be expected to assist, and at sometimes project manage new pathways, contract changes and service delivery. Qualifications: Previous experience in similar role Key Responsibilities: To be responsible for the maintenance of the practices clinical and other IT systems, ensuring delivery of high standards of data quality and ensuring maximum and effective utilization of the practices clinical system (EMIS Web) To take responsibility for coordinating the Practices CQC compliance ensuring the Practice is CQC inspection ready at all times. To be the Practices Information Governance Lead ensuring all staff are up to date on IG policy and the DSP toolkit is completed and returned annually To have oversight of appointment usage. Flagging any issues at management meetings and dealing with appropriately. To co-ordinate all staff leave, study leave etc. To coordinate the rental of rooms to outside agencies. Health & Safety To review and update the practice Health & Safety policy to ensure compliance with CQC and statutory obligations. To provide training to new recruits and periodic training to all staff. Human Resources In conjunction with the Partners and Management Team to: Oversee the recruitment, employment and induction of all non GP staff. To oversee appraisal, training and training plans in conjunction with other team leaders. To periodically review all policies to ensure compliance with statutory regulations. CQC and Information Governance. In conjunction with the management team and registered manager to: Maintain the register of CQC policies and audits and ensure that these are up to date. Have responsibility for information governance and data protection. To submit the annual IT Governance report. To provide IG training to staff. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. Personal/Professional Development: The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment, such training to include: Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work Quality: The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the Practice, and will: Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs Effectively manage own time, workload and resources Communication: The post-holder should recognize the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to: Communicate effectively with other team members Communicate effectively with patients and carers Recognize peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly Contribution to the Implementation of Services: The post-holder will: Apply Practice policies, standards and guidance Discuss with other members of the team how the policies, standards and guidelines will affect own work Participate in audit where appropriate Changes to Duties: This Job Description is neither exhaustive nor exclusive and will be reviewed periodically in conjunction with the post holder.
