Job description
What you will do in your working day
As an Early Years Apprentice, you will:
- Gain experience working with all age groups.
- Attend staff meetings and training.
- Become a key person.
- Communicate effectively with key children's parents.
- Communicate with other professionals, for example, speech and language therapists and educational psychologists.
- Provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
- Deliver an appropriate play-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
- Help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
- Understand and work with nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints, and emergencies.
- Ensure records are properly maintained, e.g., daily attendance register, accident and incident book, and risk assessments.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in line with the nursery's aims and objectives.
The training you will be getting
- Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the learner will have acquired a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification as well as Level 1 Functional Skills in both maths and English.
- The learner's progress will be evaluated through review appointments conducted via Teams every 4-6 weeks, including observations in the learner's setting.
- Other training to be taken include, Safeguarding, Child Development, Prevent Duty, Speech and Language Training, Special Educational Needs, and many more!
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- After completing the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner, learners can look to progress by enrolling in the Level 3 Early Years Educator.
