Job description
Working as a member of the clinical team, in accordance with specific guidance and practice protocols, the Practice Nurse will ensure the effective provision and delivery of general nursing services to the patient population. The Practice Nurse will also be the Infection Control lead for the Practice, ensuring that all staff are trained as appropriate and regular audits are undertaken as per regulatory guidance. The post holder will also support the multi-disciplinary team, providing administrative support as required, in line with the needs of the practice. Key Responsibilities The following are the core responsibilities of the role: ECG recording Phlebotomy (occasional) Blood pressure monitoring Dressing and wound management and assessment using doppler Suture removal Smear taking Baby immunisations service Injections: B12, influenza, covid, pneumococcal vaccines Travel vaccines (if qualified) Processing and management of samples as required Vaccine/cold storage, monitoring, and recording Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation Clearing and re-stocking clinical rooms Chaperoning duties Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and wellbeing Helping to raise awareness of health and wellbeing and how it can be promoted Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients Maintain accurate clinical records at all times Support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies Liaise with other members of the nursing team to support each other in the provision of services Practice lead for Infection Control, undertaking regular audits and providing training updates for all staff There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
