Job Title: Food Service Assistant
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 3 Months
Pay Rate: £12 per hour
Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday-Thursday 8am-2.45pm & Friday 8am-1.30pm)

Duties:
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act and Food Safety Legislation, safeguarding the organization legally.
- Handle visits from external organizations such as Environmental Health.
- Contribute insights for enhancing the product offering at the Campus.
- Assist with food preparation, serving customers, and delivering refreshments for meetings.
- Monitor food temperatures, transport deliveries, and manage storage effectively.
- Undertake cleaning tasks including in-depth cleaning using approved methods.
- Responsible for cash handling, security, and banking procedures.
- Manage stock efficiently, operate point of sale and stock management system.
- Provide information to other college departments as required.
- Maintain high standards of output and quality.
- Serve customers accurately and practice portion control.
- Ensure cleanliness of service counters, working areas, and public spaces.
- Clean beverage dispensers and replenish utensils and supplies.
- Prepare food items for display including salads, sandwiches, desserts, etc.
- Participate in Professional Development Planning and collaborate with colleagues.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements and college policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
- Understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act and Food Safety Legislation.
- Willingness to undertake training.
- Previous experience in catering service and team environment.
- Knowledge of safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle visits from external organizations and inform product offerings.
- Proficiency in food preparation and presentation.
- Manual handling skills.
- Cash handling experience and banking procedures.
- Stock monitoring and inventory management.
- Basic IT skills for point of sale and stock inventory system.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Flexibility in working hours and locations if necessary.
