Children’s LD Specialist OT - Development post band 5 to band 6 or B6

Lancashire Care Foundation Trust

Location

Accrington, Lancashire | United Kingdom

Job description

A Vacancy at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

Hello, my name is Justine and I am one of the occupational therapists in the children’s learning disability service within LSCFT. During my time working for the trust I have worked in various roles, some of which were, ‘non-traditional OT roles, such as a learning disability practitioner. For me, this highlights the leadership within the trust and how it values the skills of occupational therapists and AHPs, in what they can bring to the team as holistic practitioners, using occupationally focussed assessments and interventions to support young people and their families.

The all age learning disability service for adults and children has seen huge transformation and investment in the past few years, I was successful in securing a new post as a lead occupational therapist in the children’s team. Further investment in the service provided us with funding for three further OT posts to work across the ICS with wider multi disciplinary teams.

This means there is now an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 to Band 6 Occupational Therapist development role to work within the children’s Pennine Community Learning Disability Team. This is a community role so you must be able to travel independently of public transport. We are looking for a highly motivated and a conscientious team player who has excellent communication and developing clinical skills, looking to build experience in working with children in a community team.

An opportunity has arisen within the all age learning disability service, for a Band 5 to Band 6 Occupational Therapist development role to work within the children’s Pennine Community Learning Disability Team. This is a community role, covering the Pennine locality, so must be able to travel independently of public transport. We are looking for a highly motivated and a conscientious team player who has excellent communication and clinical skills, looking to build experience in working with community teams.

The children’s Occupational Therapy Service strives to provide forward-thinking high-quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with children and young people with learning disabilities, we work closely with their families. We have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives.

The post holder will undertake a personalised training and development programme in line with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists career development framework (RCOT, 2022), to support them to acquire the level of experience and competency required to work at Band 6 level. Once this is achieved the applicant will progress into a Band 6 role.

The post holder will provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment and interventions with an aim to support, maintain and/or restore occupational functioning.
