LOCATION: Dursley
HOURS: 37 Hours per week Monday to Friday
START DATE: Immediate
PAY £25,000pa
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Temp to Perm Contract. After successful three-month trial you will join the company on a permanent contract
Summer hours 40 hours per week and winter hours 34 hours per week. You will be paid 37 hours on a weekly basis throughout the year.
Vacancy – Purchasing Assistant
As Purchasing Assistant, you will support the Purchasing Manager in the day to day running of the purchasing department and be responsible for purchasing products for the company, Including the placing of purchase orders, sending out purchasing enquiries, progressing of incoming material, responding to sales teams’ enquiries, updating delivery dates, administrating stocks and dealing with customs clearance administration. You will need to understand company needs based on stock, inventory, projects and plans as well as the understanding of general sales and market trends according to the industry. This Purchasing Assistant role is a fast-paced environment and attention to detail is paramount as is the ability to communicate with people internally and externally on all levels.
Responsibilities:
• Processing purchase orders and requisitions
• Supporting colleagues with the Stock Tracker system, using training packages and procedures
• Working with colleagues to respond to requests in a timely manner
• Issue purchase orders to suppliers, distributors and manufacturers
• Arrange and return damaged goods
• Work closely with relevant departments to ensure products purchased are in line with the needs of the company
• Maintain current awareness of industry market trends
• Keep accurate records of purchases made
• Ensuring component parts are available for BOM’s to be built
• Purchasing replacement items and follow up on delivery timescales
• Building relationships with suppliers
• Freight Forwarder communications
• Create reports for the Purchasing Manager regarding stock items, stock shortages etc
• Add new products lines onto Stock Tracker
• Supporting the Purchasing team to execute and deliver the purchasing strategies
• Placing of orders in accordance with procurement schedules and order requests
• Communicating with suppliers to expedite purchase orders to ensure on time delivery
• Assisting, checking, and signing off purchase invoices, confirming prices are correct and goods have been received if required.
• Maintaining accurate ERP data on part costs, supplier details, order acknowledgement delivery date
• Monitoring supply and demand, and rescheduling deliveries where appropriate.
• Contacting a range of suppliers to obtain quotations and agree delivery times
• Producing and maintaining purchasing reports on supplier spend, purchase orders placed
Administration
• Keep accurate records of purchases made
• Responsible for accuracy of all paperwork and figure work
• Assisting with general Purchasing team administrative tasks
Requirements:
• Two years’ minimum / Experience in a purchasing/buying role within the agricultural and Automotive market dealing directly with overseas suppliers would be an advantage
• Experience working with demanding timescales and in a fast-paced environment
• Be proficient with Stock Tracker software
• Be highly accurate and detail-oriented
• Have strong problem solving skills
• Ideally have advanced Excel skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of numeracy / literacy.
• Strong IT skills, use Microsoft suite of packages
• Knowledge of the market and industry
• Strong motivational skills
• Experience of dealing with international suppliers
• Negotiation skills
• Prioritisation Abilities
• Ability to self-manage and work on own initiative
• Able to work independently on carrying out tasks following training and be self-motivated
• Able to operate at a consistent pace and manage timely situations under pressure.
