Job Title:HSE Officer
Location:Stockton-on-Tees, with occasional travel to Leeds
Reporting to:General Managers on both sites
Salary:£30,000 - £40,000 per annum + 28 days holiday (+BH) + Use of Pool Car
Overview:A manufacturing business based in Stockton-on-Tees are seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Officer to ensure the compliance of Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies across their sites. Reporting directly to the General Managers on both sites, this autonomous role requires someone adaptable and flexible in managing their duties.
Main Purpose:The primary responsibility of the HSE Officer is to ensure the adherence to Safety, Health & Environmental policies throughout the site. This includes updating and maintaining the H&S and Environmental manuals, ensuring all employees, managers, and suppliers comply with these standards. Additionally, the role involves managing and monitoring waste disposal channels and methods from the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain Safety, Health & Environmental policies across the sites.
Regularly update and maintain H&S and Environmental manuals, ensuring they align with current legislation and industry best practices.
Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations among employees, managers, and suppliers.
Manage and monitor waste disposal processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety procedures and best practices.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and external agencies on matters relating to safety, health, and environmental compliance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain effective safety management systems.
Prepare and present reports to management on safety performance, incidents, and compliance status.
Requirements:
NEBOSH qualification or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety.
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a similar role.
Strong knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Proven ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities effectively.
Attention to detail and analytical mindset, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
Flexibility to travel between sites, with 4 days per week based in Stockton-on-Tees and 1 day per week in Leeds.
