Job description

Teacher of Computing

Surbiton High School is currently seeking a passionate and committed individual to join our Computing department as an integral team member. This position is part-time (0.4 – 0.6), and we are also open to considering full-time applicants who can teach another subject, such as Maths, Chemistry, or Physics, preferably up to Key Stage 3 level or beyond.

Start Date: September 2024

Tenure: Permanent, Part time (0.4 - 0.6). We would consider Full Time applicants who can teach another subject from Maths, Chemistry or Physics to at least KS3

Whilst Computer Science would probably be categorised as is a niche subject at Surbiton High School the number of students studying it at GCSE and A-level are healthy. Those students who embrace their love of computing apply for computer science related courses at university with yearly applicants to top 10 universities. There are a number of enriching cocurricular activities that take place to develop students awareness of coding and the role computer science will take in their futures. The number of students studying Maths and Physics to A-level and beyond are high, this suggests a greater uptake into Computing can be achieved and we are keen to support the department in developing even greater levels of interest. This makes it an exciting time to join our department
