We'd like you to join us as a Matron at our Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Nottingham. At Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre , we offer rehabilitation, care and support to people with a brain injury or other neurological condition. You will work with the multi-disciplinary senior leadership team in developing and delivering a service of the highest quality to patients and their families, playing a crucial role in overseeing day to day operations. Lead and develop the nursing and care staff to ensure patients receive care that is safe, effective, responsive, caring and well led. This role emphasizes the development and implementation of training programs for staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Lead and continually improve quality across the hospital, ensuring it is embedded and has day-today responsibility of all members colleagues, ensuring the hospitals policies and procedures align to industry regulations and requirements. What you'll be working: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00 What you'll be doing: Act as a role model within the hospital and always display appropriate leadership behaviours. To promote a culture of openness and responsiveness, a philosophy of person-centred care and recovery, and an ethos of positive learning from incident within a high performing service. In partnership with the Hospital Director and Ward Managers, lead on the development and on-going review of model of care and ensure that wards are appropriately staffed according to agreed staffing ladders. Ensure that the service has in place a system to investigate, report on and review all serious incidents in a timely way, providing quality assurance of incident reporting and learning systems throughout the hospital site. Oversee adherence to the Hospital’s Incident Management Policy, including the Management of Serious Incidents, and embedding learning from incidents. Contribute to the Serious Incident Oversight Panel as required to ensure all SI’s at the Hospital are investigated, action plans are developed and monitored. To co-ordinate and lead the Assurance Framework. To contribute to and oversee where designated all associated quality governance frameworks across the hospital including associated action plans from external stakeholders. To work closely with the Ward Managers/Lead Therapists/Hospital Director to ensure that all patient safety elements are progressed, and that wider support is provided to the governance agenda. Undertake clinical and non-clinical investigations as required. To work with corporate colleagues to ensure the site is leading best practice in nursing standards. Assist in maintaining efficient control of the service’s budget. Take participate in writing or reviewing local protocols as identified and required. Clinical / Professional Practice To promote the NMC Code of Conduct, performance, and ethics of nurses at all times across registered and un-registered staff. Ensure the safe custody and administration of medication. Provide on-call clinical advice to the hospital, as required. To lead the governance agenda with the Hospital Director, to ensure compliance with all external and corporate quality agendas and regulators for leading and advancing clinical nursing practice in hospital. Oversee compliance with audits, the site risk register and ensure escalation to the corporate risk register as appropriate. To develop and maintain, appropriate feedback mechanisms on patient safety issues and trend analysis for the hospital. To ensure the sustainable and effective system of patient safety across the hospital which meet CQC, Commissioner, and other relevant standards/targets. Work with clinical teams and the patient support services to resolve difficult and complex patient safety issues. Implement findings from complaints, to ensure lessons are learned to improve the quality and patient experience. Report to the CQC as delegated by the Hospital Director, complete all statutory CQC notifications and monitor action plans. Ensure relevant communication to patients/residents and their families. Ensure completion of the hospital’s annual audit programmes to ensure inclusion of patient safety.
