We're looking for a Chemical Process Engineer to play a vital role in achieving our site's short, medium, and long-term objectives. You'll provide essential support to the site's Operations and Reliability departments, addressing critical plant issues. Beyond that, you'll be the driving force behind continuous improvement initiatives in areas like Process Safety, Sustainability, Reliability, and Capital Projects.

How You Will Make an Impact
- Help drive a zero incident/accident culture. Providing effective leadership to encourage a safety-first environment. Taking action, driving change, and demonstrating continuous improvement with respect to Health and Safety, Environmental, and Process Safety functions.
- Drive continuous improvement across the site to improve plant performance in key initiatives such as OEE, Quality, Reliability, and Process Safety.
- Using industry best practice tools, lead Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) activities into plant performance deviations. Lead and support teams throughout the entire process from diagnosis through to resolution.
- Lead process design and specification of process equipment, instrumentation, and control functions. Ensuring that technology meets process requirements and is suitable for service.
- Support the site initiatives portfolio. Use continuous improvement techniques to analyze opportunities and produce justified business cases to maintain an “evergreen” portfolio.
- Lead projects from “cradle to grave”. Inclusive of project scope development, equipment optioneering, detailed design, and construction management. Ensure handover of quality final products to the site Operations and Reliability Teams.
- Use Management Of Change (MOC) techniques to ensure that potential plant/process changes receive appropriate review and are managed through to final handover to site operations teams.
- Provide technical oversight and input to site Operations procedures. Ensure a consistent “right first time” approach is applied at every opportunity.
- Provide area ownership in the site annual maintenance turnaround. Ensuring activities are managed safely and executed to the required standards. Lead plant pre-start-up checks to ensure a safe, incident-free restart.
- Participate in the site “On-Call” support rota to provide out of hours plant support and guidance as required.
- Take responsibility for any other reasonable duties as required.
What You Will Bring to Cabot
• Degree in chemical engineering or equivalent• Experienced in the use and application of Process Safety tools and standards (HAZOP, PHAs, DSEAR etc.).• Excellent critical reasoning skills and experience using problem solving techniques (e.g. Kepner-Tregoe, Six Sigma, 5-Why tools).• SH&E - Knowledge of Safety & Environmental standards, Process Safety Management (PSM) and behavioral based safety.• Able to manage complex data and have experience in applying statical analysis techniques to process control.• Experience working on an operating chemical manufacturing facility desirable.• Technical knowledge and experience of processes which handle hazardous materials (corrosive, flammable) is beneficial.• Member of IChemE. Chartership accreditation desirable.• High level of computer literacy, Microsoft suite and statistical analysis software (e.g. JMP). Experience with use of process historians (E.g. PI or Aspen) desirable.
