Based on the outskirts of East Lancashire, within easy commute from the M65 and M66, this business have seen exponential growth over a the last decade. This varied role as Financial Controller which will support a dynamic and commercially driven senior leadership team. With revenue streams across construction and civil engineering, they operate in a group structure. A progressive role, with succession planning in mind. this is an excellent opportunity.

Your new role as Financial Controller:

As Financial Controller you shall take responsibility for a junior transactional team and lead from the front in the day to day production of meaningful monthly management accounts and supporting analysis to enhance the decision making process. A newly established role, with hybrid working available, reporting to the Financial Director, this role will include an attractive package in a varied, interesting role. With the opportunity to progress, this role is to support the succession planning and may lead to directorship in the future.

Initially a hands-on Finance lead, you shall manage the month end and commercial accounting, whilst leading the finance function to ensure the ledger process, payroll and supporting analysis for month-end is carried out effectively. A partner to commercial heads you shall work alongside a dynamic group of leaders. Supporting the Finance Director with ad hoc financial projects you shall take the lead on year end accounting whilst developing the process and procedure in the department.

Main Role Duties:
• Production of multi-site monthly Management Accounts and associated financial reporting
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations and control accounting
• Consolidation of group management accounting at month/yr end
• Seeking to develop process and procedure across the finance function
• Support towards developing KPI management across the construction businesses, each of which operating in various sectors and with a variety of business offerings.
• Variance analysis across the business and over multi-sites
• Stakeholder engagement across the business
• Support to the annual budgets and forecasting process
• Staff development, mentoring and monitoring

Experience & Qualifications Required to apply:

You shall be a confident and commercially minded Financial Controller with a hands-on approach. With a proven track record of adding value and improving process, you shall also hold a recognised qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CTA) or be towards the final stages of your study. You shall have had staff management/supervision experience with the ability to drive productivity. Having operated at this level you shall have skills in developing process and procedure, ensuring the finance department remains a value add to the rest of a business.
