Milestone Infrastructure is the UKs leading highways maintenance provider, looking after 48,000 km of roads and 300,000 street lighting assets, always with a view to ensuring that all works are carried out as sustainably as possible and with minimal impact to local communities
We have recently been awarded Suffolk’s new highways services contract, which will began on 1 October 2023 and will run for up to 20 years. The contract will deliver highways projects and improvements across Suffolk in addition to highway maintenance activities.
As a result of this key win we are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team based in Ipswich.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leading in delivery of all commercial aspects relating to the highway maintenance and cyclical activities carried out on the contract.
- Preparation of clear and accurate forecasts
- Preparing and issuing early warning notices Submitting and agreeing compensation event quotations.
- Building up star rates for new items
- Submitting of Claims and applications to the client and ensuring payment is received.
- Agreement of final accounts within 3 months of work completion
- Risk & opportunity management
- Preparing subcontract liabilities
- Monthly cost and value reconciliation & management
- Assisting in procurement and management of supply chain
- Attending work stream meetings
- Carrying out site visits as and when required
- Line Management of Quantity Surveyor and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
- Liaising with other teams including operations, client and supply chain
- Ensuring compliance with Milestone standards and procedures in respect of commercial activities
- Ad hoc commercial duties as job requires
Skills & Experience
- HNC/D ,Degree or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subject
- Demonstrable Highway Maintenance experience preferably with a contracting organisation
- Good knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
- Preferably qualified or working to an CICES or RICS accreditation.
- Good command and communication of oral and written English
- Skilled negotiator and communicator
- Good people/management/organisational skills.
- Relevant CSCS Card
- IT proficient, particularly in MS Office
- Previous use of Causeway Project Accounting desirable
