We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Head of Planning and Control, to be involved in
developing a global supply chain and creating opportunities for the wider industry.
Role Purpose Reporting to the Group Head of Procurement & Supply Chain, the Head of Planning and Control will play a pivotal role in the development and functional leadership of a newly formed Planning and Control function.
The Head of Planning and Control shall be responsible for developing the strategy, forming and developing the function to manage all activities across the product lifecycle for the external supply chain. This shall ensure all supply chains and value streams are professionally design, developed, planned, scheduled and governed; including the development and management of the inventory and logistic strategy and ensuring this is efficiently and effectively delivered and managed.
The Head of Planning and Control, together with their teams, shall design a capable supply and value chains to meet current and future build rate readiness, planning the product from introduction through to supply whilst measuring and developing the supply chain performance and mitigating supply chain risk and issues.
The role shall work with the wider Procurement and Supply Chain function and leadership team to develop and govern all functional process, including deployment and implementation. Governance shall include and incorporate industry best practice, Customer, Regulators and RRSMR country deployment benchmarks.

Key selection criteria Process development and governance - Experienced in the establishment of a robust Planning and Control governance framework for processes, procedures and tools and ensuring deployment, training, compliance and maturity is established across all aspects of the Planning and Control and wider Purchasing and Supply Chain function.
- Significant experienced in the leading of a Planning and Control organisation to enable the development of a functional planning process for SMR including the development of SMR specific strategies and application of Operations planning policies.
- Experienced in the development of procedures, policy, legislative, regulatory, environmental, safety and quality requirements, ethical codes and practices relating to a planning and control function.
Demand and Supply Planning and Scheduling - Ability to define with practicable experience of the implementation of an end–to–end management process recognising all constraints ensuring optimal demand and capacity planning balance across the supply chain to ensure on time delivery and optimal inventory.
- Experienced in developing and managing an end–to–end supply chain design at all levels within the value chain recognising key changes across the product and portfolio lifecycle which could affect the commodities/supply chain value stream.
- Experienced in the development and deployment of 3PL logistic strategies across the complete supply chain. Through an integrated ERP solution ensuring all physical logistic solutions are at industry standard levels of performance.
- Ability to validate the quality and robustness of the SMR planning activity to ensure (a) risks to planned performance are understood and actively addressed; and (b) impact such as capital investment, manpower, rate readiness and supply chain change are known and managed
Improving Customer Delivery - Significant experience in supply chain demand planning through the development of capable supply chains with clear and enduring supply chain monitoring and action planning.
- Experienced in supply chain risk management to mitigate potential to impact delivery. Clear methodology in the management of supply chain risk to ensure all risks are identified, prioritised, escalated and disseminated within the wider organisation. This is to ensure all risks have clear mitigation strategies, incorporated within all commodity strategies and are effectively managed.
- Experienced in the functional development of an ERP solution with all aspects related to materials management to ensure correct planning data and is maintained for all systems, commodities and components.
People and teams - Experienced in the developing departmental structures and all subsequent roles required to deliver the strategy. To ensure all standard functional roles are defined, with clear accountabilities hat fulfil all role competencies.
- Knowledgeable in Performance & Capability Development of staff assigned, ensuring development of a business and supply chain facing high performing P&C team through performance management, training, coaching and mentoring. Ability to identifying and proactively managing high potential employees and succession planning.
- Knowledgeable with practicable experience in the creation of a continuous improvement culture within team, that continuously challenges and reviews activities, behaviours, policies and procedures in order to capture, share and implement learnings.
International Supply Chains - Experience in the development and management of international/country/regional supply chain planning and design to be incorporated into a wider business international supply chain strategy. Incorporating all activities previously recognising the potential change in legislation, regulatory and industry standards. Ability to support the development of supplier, at all tiers, to achieve the required RRSMR and Customer standards.
Training & Qualifications - Proven ability to lead and direct a diverse functional and cross functional team(s)
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Chain or equivalent professional qualification
- Well organised, systematic and rigorous approach to planning work and priorities.
- Delivery of results (value) from successfully working with stakeholders and customers
- Degree qualified or significant experience in a relevant functional discipline
- Excellent influencing and inter–personal skills
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex topics
Pay and Benefits We anticipate a paying salary of between GBP88,000 – GBP95,000, a performance related bonus of up to 20%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions. You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of GBP8,500, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.
