Job description
A leading manufacturer of functional coatings is currently recruiting a Quality Engineer to join their state-of-the-art facility based in West Sussex. This is a pivotal role within a world-class scientific team – ensuring that all steps of the manufacturing process are capable of meeting strict technical/operation standards.
Quality Engineer responsibilities
- Plan, manage and lead any quality engineering activities necessary to deliver against overall programme aims – reporting achievements to the Production / Project Manager, as part of a cross functional team.
- Work with manufacturing engineering, research & development and production teams, to ensure that quality is designed into new, industrialised manufacturing processes.
- Work with research and production teams to conduct practical trials and proof of concepts (with respect to quality) for production processes.
- Establish process controls for individual process parameters to improve repeatability and reproducibility
- Design and implement trials and experiments to analyse and understand the impact of process variation on product quality – to establish control measures to achieve process capability.
- To develop and define process controls, inspection and monitoring methods for new and existing processes. Ensure that manufacturing operations are process capable – so that desired level of quality is maintained in a production environment.
- Develop and build Quality Plans to cover all aspects of coating manufacturing.
Quality Engineer requirements
- Ideally degree level qualified in an engineering discipline – however candidates that possess relevant experience without a degree will also be considered.
- Ability to apply quality engineering principles and techniques to deploy strategies and plans to improve process capability
- Experience of leading quality engineering projects to improve product quality
- Design experience for simple componentry/systems
- Experience of Kaizen and CI
- Hands on practical approach
