• Job title: Personal Assistant (working on a 2-1 basis)

• Hours of work: 8 hours per week (term time) 16 hours per week (school holidays) 2 roles available
• Rate of pay: £11.00 per hour

The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

As part of your role you will support a happy young man as he enjoys life, explores his local community and meets new people. This post is funded through Direct Payments which is funded by the local authority. This scheme is intended to enable this young man and his family to manage his support independently by employing his assistants.

Main Duties:

• Provide companionship by good interaction and by exploring this young man’s interests and getting to know what his likes and dislikes are.
• Give this young man consistent support and guidance when out and about in the community. A person will need to be alert to dangers, and changes in mood and attentive throughout the support with this young man.
• Ensure this young man’s safety at all times during your working period, constant supervision is required as he has no knowledge of hazards.
• Plan coordinate and arrange fun activities and outings within the community that interest him. Local knowledge of activities available would be advantageous to this post, as the hours worked will be off-site within the community
• Support and encourage this young man to participate in new, fun and interesting activities.
• Prompt this young man to remain active and to try new activities and skills to improve his confidence, abilities and satisfaction.
• Preparation of light snacks may be required. Support and personal care will be required as and when required.
• Provide support and administration of medication as and when required. Be aware of the procedure if this young man becomes ill. Full Training can be provided.

The client is looking for a personal assistant that fits the following person specification:

• Caring and patient
• Responsible and honest
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Has good local knowledge
• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship

Other Requirements:

A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.

Benefits:

5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata)
Sick pay at SSP rate
Training provided if required.
