Job description
We are thrilled to announce an exceptional opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated 1-to-1 Teaching Assistant to join a large Special Needs School in the St Helens area. The school are committed to providing the very best education for every child, and they prioritize creating a welcoming and supportive environment where students can thrive. In this role, you will work closely with a Year 9 pupil with Autism, providing invaluable support to facilitate their academic and personal development.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a Year 9 pupil with Autism, providing 1-to-1 support in their academic and personal development
- Adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet the individual needs of the student
- Assist with classroom integration and help the student engage in class activities
- Implement behaviour management techniques to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Foster positive relationships with the student, their parents, and teaching staff
- Support the student in developing their social and communication skills
- Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals involved in the student's care
Requirements:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, such as care work, ideally with experience supporting students with Autism
- Strong understanding of Autism and strategies for supporting individuals with the condition
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the progress and well-being of students with SEND
- Ability to adapt and differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of the student
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting a safe learning environment
Working Hours: Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Permanent contracts will be considered for the right candidates.
