We have an exciting opportunity a Payroll Administrator in our Head Office. Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager this role will sit within the Finance Department, working with the rest of the payroll team to process monthly and weekly Payroll of currently 2000 staff. This role will include administration and ownership of pensions in accordance with Government Legislation and organisational timetable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• All payroll data collection and input (spreadsheet, paper and electronic timesheets, new starts, leavers, P45, starter checklists, absence, overtime, expenses, and rate changes).
• Preparation of payments to employees for sign off by Group Payroll Manager.
• Updating payroll records for all staff.
• Maintaining leave, sickness, and overtime reports.
• Interpreting awards/agreements and contracts in relation to overtime and shift allowances etc and the processing of these.
• Administration of Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Auto Enrolment pension scheme, ensuring compliance to scheme rules and government legislation.
• Dealing with frontline payroll queries – via telephone, email and in person.
• Experience, Skills and Competencies
• Working knowledge of payroll procedures and processes.
• Working knowledge of Access SelectPay System would be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of UK Tax and NI Calculations and Statutory payments.
• Working knowledge of Auto Enrolment pensions, LGPS knowledge is desirable.
• Proven track record of using Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Ability to prioritise a heavy workload and work to deadlines.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Experience of working within the construction or public sector is desirable however not essential.
