My clients are a very busy well established manufacturing company in Stockport. Their unique scale up capabilities mean we can support your project every step of the way. We are now looking for them a Head of Finance.
Summary of role:
We are seeking a full time Head of Finance at an exciting time for the company as we look to establish our first overseas entity this year. Your role will be managing and developing the finance department of a growing SME business comprising distribution and some manufacturing operations within the chemical sector. You will be reporting directly into the CEO and board of our Japanese parent company whilst forming part of the Senior Leadership Team in developing strategic plans for future growth. The role offers excellent opportunities for further growth with scope to progress into a Chief Financial Officer position over time.

The role is office-based working over two sites but primarily based at our Bredbury site initially before permanently transferring to our Denton site from Q1 2025.
Package offered:
- Salary £55- £65k
- Monday-Friday 9-5pm 37.5 hours per week

Core Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing strategies to ensure the company’s long-term financial health and working with the Senior Leadership in implementing strategic plans within the UK and oversees.
- Main liaison for all financial matters, including overseas subsidiaries as applicable, reporting to Parent Japanese PLC, HMRC, Banking and Audit Partners and responsible for always ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Review of Monthly Management Accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts for the business and preparation of board reports presenting / interpreting at Board meetings
- Implementation of robust financial controls and processes across the business conducting risk management where needed, developing secure procedures to maintain confidential information.
- Ensuring optimum cash flow management through appropriate resource allocation, monitoring costs and capital expenditure
- Preparation and control of company budgets
- Development of forecasts and strategic plans together with the Board & Senior Management Team, advising on funding options and recommending cost-reducing solutions as appropriate
- Managing, mentoring and coaching of Accounts Manager and reviewing and working on policies and procedures with the Accounts Manager and wider accounting department, ensuring all financial processes are running smoothly.
- Providing training and coaching, where required, to all employees on relevant financial matters to ensure adoption of a commercial mindset through the company.
- Working with in house IT & IT Consultants to implement efficiencies throughout the Finance function.
The successful candidate will have:
- CIMA/ACA / ACCA / ACMA Qualified Accountant (or QBE)
- Senior Finance / Financial Management experience
- Preferable some experience gained within a larger sophisticated business and managing multiple currencies, previous experience working with international subsidiaries an advantage.
- In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping
- Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models
- Strong character, capable of implementing and driving through changes and improvements in financial and business processes.
- Good team management and leaderships skills and experience, Strong commitment to develop people in their career.
- Strong IT skills, using Microsoft suite, Experience of SAP B1 & Power BI preferable.
