An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist to join the team for a joint role within the clinical pharmacy service and the undergraduate medical education team.

The post is ideal for those who want to use their clinical skills daily and have a strong interest in training and education. It is an excellent opportunity to further develop both clinical and leadership skills.

This position offers excellent opportunities to support multidisciplinary collaboration, fostering knowledge and expertise in a specialised field. This knowledge can then be used towards the training of undergraduate medical students.

We actively encourage opportunities for research, service improvement, and pursuing postgraduate qualifications. Career progression and regional leadership are key priorities within the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Pharmacy department.

Support is available to the post holder in achieving their aims for the role and their career via access to experts in medical education and clinical pharmacy as well as mentors and coaching opportunities.

The post is split 60:40 between the provision of clinical duties and delivering prescribing and applied therapeutics teaching to undergraduate medical students. You will be working alongside the two existing specialist pharmacists for undergraduate medical education.

Assisting the planning and delivery of the applied therapeutics teaching.

Acting as examiner for the formative and summative assessments of medical students as required by the University of Nottingham.

Acting as a professional role model and mentor in clinical pharmacy practice to trainees and newly qualified pharmacists / technicians and to undergraduate medical students.

This role will include supporting the clinical pharmacy service in delivering medicines management and optimisation to maternity, obstetrics and gynaecology clinical areas. Support in this role is provided by the lead pharmacist – paediatrics and neonatal in delivering the overarching pharmacy service to the women and children’s division.

Previous experience in training and education is desirable but not essential as full support will be provided. You will also be required to complete additional training as outlined by the University and Nottingham. You should have experience as a qualified pharmacist, excellent communication skills and hold, or be expecting to complete within the next few months a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
