Salary £50,000 - £60,000 Full time Working across 2 sites in Hampshire & Surrey Flame Health's Optometry Division is looking for a Regional Clinical Optometrist in the Hampshire and Surrey area to join our client who is a provider of the whole spectrum of Ophthalmic health care.
You will be an exceptional Optometrist with a passion for providing the highest quality patient care and have demonstrable experience, ideally gained in Hospital Optometry and/or Refractive Surgery would be advantageous.
You’ll work as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside Consultants to carry out pre and post-operative consultations and assess the suitability of patients for treatment associated with refractive, cataract, glaucoma and retinal surgeries.
Job Description:
- Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive, cataract, glaucoma and retinal surgeries.
- Run acute and follow up clinics post-surgery for all patients.
- Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
- Provide first-line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
- Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
- Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses
- Help to control cross infection by enforcing Hospital policy regarding Uniform Policy, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures.
- Follow correct procedures for documenting and reporting any accident or incident.
- Proactively identify ways to improve processes and service to ensure a streamlined, efficient and high-quality service is offered to patients
- Build relationships with patients during their consultation to ensure that their individual needs are understood and that this is matched to the most suitable treatment solution
- Proactively provide explanations to patients around treatment and ensure all patient questions are answered fully
- Responsible for achieving set conversion rates from consultation to booking of treatment
- Ensure compliance with relevant pre-authorisation processes and collection of surgery deposits
- Travel to hospital sites as required for training or meetings
Experience & Qualifications:
- Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
- Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
- Experience in using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
- Experience in working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
