PRU Support Assistant - Croydon

Job Description:

Remedy Education is currently supporting a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit. To help recruit a HLTA or Teacher Assistants in the Croydon and surrounding areas. Candidates would need a minimum of two years' experience working with children in school settings or PRU (pupil referral unit).

The students are known to have challenging behaviour, has social anxiety/emotionally not well enough for school. These students are often too challenging or too disruptive for mainstream schools. Job expectations could be that the candidate works at the child's home. The candidate will be working with children that may have been excluded from school, medically can't be in a school, it could be that they have relocated and no place available in the local school.

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends

The successful candidate:

• Minimum of NVQ Level 2, CACHE Level 2, BTEC, BA (Hons) Education or experience working within an education setting
• 2 Years Experience within a PRU Support Assistant setting.
• Assist with preparing lessons in all areas of the school curriculum with consideration of varied levels of student abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain a positive attitude.
• Provide simulating activities whilst ensuring hygiene and safety rules.
• Maintain a supportive and clean classroom environment.
• Be attentive to the unique needs of each student and be able to identify proper solutions when children encounter issues.
• Great communication skills to collaborate with other teachers and families when needed.
