Position Information Rutherford Technology High School located respectfully on the traditional lands of the Wonnarua People, is a large comprehensive high school supporting students from West Maitland to Branxton. Positive Behaviour for Learning is a focus supporting all members of the school community to be respectful, responsible and committed to learning. Current enrolment is 1405 with 22% students Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and students from a variety of cultural backgrounds, some with English as a second language. The school currently has 11 Support Classes. The school’s Family, Occupation Education Index is 138 with an Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage of 903 in 2024. The school prides itself on providing students with opportunities to excel and reach their potential by effectively resourcing a wide range of sporting, cultural, vocational and academic programs. Specific Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
