Mental Health Non Clinical Practitioner

We are looking to recruit a very motivated and able individual, who will appreciate the exciting opportunity, to work with a variety of clients supporting them with their mental health.

The Mental Health Non-Clinical Practitioner will be required to coordinate and lead activities and groups and carry out one-to-one support sessions for people using the service both face-to-face, online, and by telephone.

Position : Safe Harbour Non-Clinical Practitioner

Location: Epsom, Surrey

Salary: £29,417

Hours: Full time, 37 hours a week, 8:45am-6pm on a rolling shift plan. (4 days).

Contract: Initially a 12-month Fixed Term Contract

The Role

Safe Harbour Pilot

This 12-month Pilot is in response to the rise in need and pressures across the mental health system by creating greater capacity across the pathway, by providing an additional daytime resource where, a non-clinical model is best placed to meet the holistic needs of people, and support them to avoid escalation, manage and prevent crisis, better manage their mental health, stabilize, and build resilience.

The service is to work alongside, and in collaboration with, other involved existing community services. The service will be staffed 7 days a week, 365 days a year, by third sector non-clinical mental health practitioners and managers.

Key responsibilities include:

• To collaborate with clients face-to-face, to support their mental health and work with them to plan their way forward.
• To establish and maintain a strong and positive rapport with clients of the Safe Harbour and to assist them with achieving their own goals.
• To support clients to manage their own risk but also be aware of safeguarding protocols.
• To support and aid with any relevant initiatives undertaken by the people using the service.
• To be responsible for following what is learnt in the Safe Harbour staff induction and onboarding.
• To work with external agencies to develop a programme of activities that will provide the support that clients need.
• To complete all tasks related to set up, including planning initial meetings, calendar updates and rotas.
• To accept and process initial referrals and implement individual monitoring tools (Recovery Star).
• To complete risk assessments as required (including client risk).

About You

As Mental Health Non Clinical Practitioner experience working in mental health, wellbeing, behavior change work with Adults.

You will also have the following knowledge and skills:

• To work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (statutory and voluntary)
• An understanding of confidentiality, consent, information sharing, including GDPR
• Ability to interact effectively with the clients, colleagues and other professionals whilst retaining clear boundaries
• Ability to work to all the policies, procedures and standards of the service and joint working arrangements with statutory and voluntary sector partners
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of mental health issues
• Knowledge and understanding of community working, lone working, and ability to maintain safety whilst working in the community
• A good understanding of personal limitations, ability to identify when to seek advice and support, and deal with issues in a professional manner

About the Organisation

The charity is a mental health and emotional well-being charity, supporting Surrey residents since 1994 in Banstead, Elmbridge, Epsom and Ewell, and Mole Valley.

Offering a variety of face-to-face and online services, available to adults (aged 16+) living in Surrey who would like to restore and maintain their mental and emotional well-being (no diagnosis needed). The services are free of charge, with no waiting list and no time limit.
