The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Head of Bids and proposals?
- Lead the planning and execution of the overall proposal development effort, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Understand the strengths and skills gap of the proposal team, providing guidance and training in win theme development, proposal outlining, and writing.
- Collaborate and coordinate with organic proposal teams
- Assure the quality and compliance of deliverables to customers.
- Develop and maintain the proposal management plan as the roadmap for proposal development.
- Determine staffing needs and priorities of the capture team, focused on proposal development.
- Lead the development of storyboards, RFP outlines, and compliance matrices.
- Conduct and present PTW analysis.
- Plan, participate in, or lead color team reviews using Shipley process.
- Manage activities of section leads, writers/editors, and proposal coordinator.
- Provide proposal development training in industry best practices.
- Responsible for creating industry–leading proposal infrastructure using MS Teams and SharePoint.
- Oversee proposal production and editing.
- Arrange and lead gate reviews at appropriate levels
What are we looking for in our next Head of Bids and proposals?
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics.
- Knowledge of relevant customer base, including NCHQ and DE&S/SDA/DNO.
- Advanced degree or MBA.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and market technology and product capability/offerings.
- Track record of managing successful technical bids through to order placement.
- Excellent technical report/proposal writing.
- Willing to work out of normal business hours and time zone.
- Proven track record of managing successful marketing campaigns for complex systems to government, navy, and prime contractors.
- Experience in Signature Management and/or Naval Power Systems is a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and develop effective relationships with partners and suppliers.
- Degree qualified – Engineering or Technical Degree (distinct advantage) or equivalent competency and experience.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Experience in managing complex, high–value bids and proposals.
