Job description
As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will find yourself at the heart of a dynamic team, tasked with providing immediate medical attention and acute care to patients facing urgent health issues. This pivotal role not only demands exceptional diagnostic skills but also the ability to make quick, yet accurate decisions in high-pressure situations. Serving as the first point of contact for patients in critical condition, the individual in this position plays a crucial role in stabilising and managing patients until they can be moved to the appropriate department for further treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with emergency medical conditions to quickly establish a diagnosis and begin necessary treatment.
- Coordinate care plans with other medical professionals and departments, ensuring seamless patient care from emergency admission to discharge or transfer.
- Administer emergency procedures as necessary, including but not limited to Advanced Life Support, trauma care, and management of acute medical conditions.
- Maintain meticulous records of patient care, treatment plans, and progress, adhering to hospital and statutory requirements.
- Participate in continuous education and training sessions to stay abreast of the latest developments in emergency medicine and improve patient care quality.
- Support and mentor junior medical staff, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A Medical Degree from an accredited institution, with a specialty in Emergency Medicine.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), including a License to Practice.
- Significant experience in emergency medicine, critical care, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Advanced Life Support and emergency procedural skills.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex medical information in clear terms.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in paediatric emergency care.
- Participation in emergency medicine research projects.
