Are you an experienced Key Stage 2 teaching assistant looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about working with pupils on a 1-to-1 basis? We have an excellent opportunity for a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant/ Learning Support Assistant to work with a Year 6 class supporting pupils with EHCPs.
Your new school This Westminster primary school is very popular and oversubscribed. The staff are very happy as they have a very supportive senior leadership team who value them and invest in their careers. The pupils are provided with a learning environment that promotes a challenging curriculum, creating lifelong learners.
Your role as a SEN LSA You will be working closely with three pupils who have vary needs. All three pupils have an EHCP, and your role will require you to support these pupils to achieve their EHCP targets as well as building their confidence prior to attending secondary school. Your other duties will include:
- Recording and reporting the pupil's progress to the teacher.
- Establish a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the school.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
- Contribute to providing high quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
- Respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and adapt to any task presented to achieve the smooth running of the school.
- Provide a safe learning environment for the children.
What you will need to succeed
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare or SEN, or equivalent experience.
- A good understanding of the needs of pupils with learning difficulties and sensory needs.
- A positive and flexible attitude, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a sense of humour
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
