As a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner you will be part of a well-established Therapy team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists with grades ranging from Band 3 to Band 8a. The well-staffed teams work generically, providing high quality care through effective team work. A positive and organised approach to rehabilitation is essential. Good communication skills and commitment to team working within a safe, empathetic and supportive environment are also needed.

Please note that previous applicants need not apply.

The successful candidates will be able to provide support to the therapy teams on the HCOOP wards in the day to day assessments of clients and delivery of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy treatment programmes. The Band 4 role will also involve the timely planning of discharge and referral to onward community services. The band 4 provides generic therapy and works as part of the MDT.

We are extremely proud of our Therapy Service which has over 300 staff across Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics and Orthotics. We have had significant funding to increase staffing across 7 days as well as across ITU, Stroke and the establishment of Frailty Assessment Units as well as a brand new Elective Orthopaedic Centre. Therapy services are recognised and respected across the Trust as being integral to safe and effective patient care.

This vacancy sits within the wider Clinical Support Services Care Group which provides essential services within the patient pathway. The Care Group is extremely diverse and is comprised of Audiology, Outpatients, Medical Physics, Pathology, Pharmacy, Radiology and Therapies specialties.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 695,000 people.

Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: ‘People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’.

We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called ‘We care’. It’s about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We’re looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
