The North of England in the search for an
experienced Principal Planning Officer on an initial
3-month basis. The officer is required to progress major and/or significant planning applications (General applications include 200-unit housing schemes), in addition to reviewing case officer reports and signing off planning decisions under delegated authority, mentoring case officers, and contributing to weekly management team and team meeting.
Required to have significant post qualification experience to deliver development management solutions for new development including planning applications, strategic and/or major developments, advice, appeals, and related compliance, and enforcement. This role also provides technical advice and guidance to others (including other professionals) involved in delivery of Development Management and may have responsibility for managing resources within a project or team (budget and/or people) and for supporting the decision-making process for planning applications within the service.
The contract offered is for an initial 3-month duration with the potential to extend, the council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and are offering hybrid working arrangements with weekly office presence.
A comprehensive working knowledge and experience of Development Management is essential. It would be beneficial to hold a Planning Degree or equivalent Planning qualification and full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute, although this is not mandatory.
