SEND Transport Ops Manager
3-6-month interim contract to start March 2024
Northwest England
£500-550 per day
Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Hybrid working
Full time

Reporting into the Head of Transport Services, you will be responsible for a team of 5-7 managers. Leading the day-to-day services of specialist transport, you will be responsible for service planning and delivery. You will have a proven track record in managing transport services specifically home to school/SEND transport and passenger services. You will have worked within a local authority setting and be operating at Service Manager level.

Your Role as SEND Transport Operations Manager:

• To lead and manage the Specialist Transport Service.

 

• To assist the HOS in the delivery of the Service’s functions and responsibilities and to deputise as necessary and when required.

 

• To work, implement and maintain effective and restructured services (including changes to staffing requirements) in reaction to changes in client department and public sector partners’ requirements, devising and implementing business cases for change to ensure the service remains relevant, effective, and efficient.

 

• To plan, review and manage Team activities in accordance with Health and Safety, legal, technical and professional requirements.

 

• To manage the delivery of the Passenger Fleet service staff in bringing effective and efficient delivery of a proportion of the SEN and ASC transport network and the requirements of public sector partners, ensuring best value.

 

• To consult with key partners, including school leaderships and commercial bus operators, internally and externally to the council, on the provision of sustainable and effective education and local bus service networks.

Your previous experience as an SEND Transport Manager:

In-depth experience at a senior managerial level both operational functions and strategic service needs within SEND/Home to School Transport
•Demonstrate ability to promote changes necessary in service planning, commissioning, service delivery and engagement with service users
•Must demonstrate a high level of operational experience in a Local Authority setting
