Deputy Manager
Salary dependant on experience.
Location – Southport.
Deadline – 08 January 2024.
To support the Registered Manager of a 2 bed Children’s home where Children and Young People are looked after.
Overseeing and providing day to day care for Children and Young people who present Emotional Behavioural Difficulties and/or Autism.
Provide professional support, guidance and supervision to the staff team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting the Needs of Children and Young People
- To act as a ‘corporate parent’ for each child and young person and maintain a high quality of care in all situations.
- Liaise with all appropriate people involved with in the child/young person’s care.
- Through individual practice and the effective management of a team, actively support the positive holistic development of the children/young people within the home.
- To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people.
- To report immediately and unsafe practices and conditions.
- To ensure the ongoing assessment of children and young people’s needs in day to day practice.
- Ensure all staff practice is in line with children and young people’s Care and Placement Plans.
- Provide a positive role model for the young people, presenting oneself in a highly professional manner.
Personal Development and Team Membership
- Take responsibility for the effective and efficient running of shifts.
- Delegate staff on each shift to complete tasks that promote the welfare of children and the environment they live in.
- Represent the home at reviews and or meetings.
- Undertake relevant training programmes as required by governing regulations, guidance, and the company.
- At all times promote and ensure anti-discriminatory practices.
- Oversee, supervise, appraise and develop the skills of staff in their working practice.
- Work in partnership and develop professional working relationships with colleagues, other agencies and professionals to meet the needs of young people and their families.
- To show willingness to undertake appropriate training as part of overall professional development.
- Ensure relevant Health and Safety checks are completed.
- To carry out any other reasonable and relevant duties as required.
Regulatory and Administrative
- Support the Homes Manager in the reviewing of Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure effective service delivery in line with policies and procedures of the home and the company.
- To work in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations, other statutory guidance, and cooperate with any inspection process.
- Oversee, write and edit all reports when submitted for meetings and reviews.
- Monitor and maintain administrative requirements ensuring compliance with policy and regulation.
- Take responsibility for having sound working knowledge of key policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Fire and Health and Safety Procedures at your work of place.
- Oversee paper work completed by staff in the home to ensure it is of a High Standard.
- Ensure relevant plans are kept up to date.
