Start Date : Immediate Start
Day centre hours 09:00 – 15:00 Monday – Friday
Salary: £10.39

Working within the health and adult services directorate you will be based in a resource or day centre. The services support adults with learning disabilities. These may include high support needs, complex needs, challenging behaviour and autism.
You will enable people to maximise their independence in line with their assessed need, working in partnership with health, voluntary and private agencies, families and carers.
The LD support worker will work in line with current legislation and service plans, working within the framework of Care Quality commission standards. You will work in ways which maintain dignity, respect and human rights.
You will adhere to safe working practices and health and safety requirements, operating within the directorates risk management framework.
Some of the services are provided 24hrs a day as part of a seven day service.
This role involves spoken communications so a confident use of English language is required.
An enhanced DBS clearance is required.
Knowledge
Entry Level
Basic awareness of the role social care can play in people’s lives

Level 1 – in addition to the above
Knowledge of current best practice in the social care of people with Learning Disabilities and related national care standards including Valuing People Now.
Knowledge of adult safeguarding issues
Basic working knowledge of simple equipment to maximise people’s independence.
Have a working knowledge of local community resources and universal services
Knowledge and understanding of how Equality & Diversity, Dignity & Respect, and Human Rights will apply to this role.

Level 2 – in addition to the above
Working knowledge of current best practice in the social care of people with Learning Disabilities and related national care standards including Valuing People Now
Good working knowledge of simple equipment to maximise peoples independence and use of equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs, lifelines and other assistive technology
Working knowledge of the spectrum of conditions within Learning Disabilities such as Autism, Dementia etc.

Experience
Level 1
Minimum of 6 months experience in social care or related discipline
Level 2
Proven experience in social care or a related discipline
