Job description
Permanent Veterinary Surgeon - Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
We are recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join a animal hospital in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. This role is full time for 40 hours per week over 4 days, along with 1 in 6 weekends with time off in lieu. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.
About the role
They are looking for a Vet to come and join them and help expand their hospital team. This is an established small, farm and equine practice in a modern purpose build spacious Hospital with 5 small animal branch surgeries. They also boast a separate site for their farm animal work. They have been established for many years and boast an excellent reputation within the community.
The Vet will work a split of consulting, surgeries and in patient care and they are looking for someone who has good all round skills. An interest in ECC, internal medicine or a certificate holding surgeon would be an advantage but not essential. There is some sole charge work invovled within the branch surgeries so the Vet would need to be confident in this area. There is no OOH however there is a generous weekend rota.
We are looking for a confident and capable all-rounder who strives for high clinical standards in general practice. The role will be split between consulting, operating and inpatient management, so a level of experience is required (at least 1-2 years in practice) and an interest or certificate in ECC or Internal Medicine would be advantageous, but not essential. Sole charge work at branch surgeries is limited to consultations only, with all procedures carried out at the hospital.
The Vet will be an additiona to the current Hospital team. They understand the importance of a healthy work / life balance and therefore can be flexible with the roles and also support areas of special interest. For example a Vet with an interest in ECC work may prefer twilight shifts or weekend only patterns. These would be considered.

The practice boasts state of the art facilities with high spec equipment. They can treat a range of more complex surgeries so rarely there is a need to refer cases. They have advanced surgical orthopaedic capabilities and are also able to treat a range of exotic species. They boast three operating theatres within the hospital which has state of the art equipment.
They are also a nurse training practice and have University students at the practice most of the year. Each Vet gets 35 hours of CPD per year and nurse 15 hours. There is also support and encouraged with staff development and areas of special interest and post graduate qualifications are supported. This is a busy Hospital practice which treats a huge variety of cases, with exposure to more complex cases thus offering an excellent career development opportunity to the right candidate.
