Job description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and well qualified Head of English to join and lead the successful English department and contribute to its excellent results at all levels. As our Head of English, you should be able to teach across the whole age, Year 7 - Year 13, and ability range. As the Head of English will be expected to take part in any future development of the subject and successfully lead the department. 

Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 2 – 18, located close to the glorious seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Our aim is to develop well-rounded students with the skills and the personality to make a success of their lives during and after their school years.

Academic excellence is central to life at Saint Felix School and we encourage all pupils to aspire to the highest possible standards and to exceed their expectations. Our success is demonstrated by impressive examination results at GCSE and A Level. The vast majority of our leavers go on to Higher Education.

At Saint Felix, within English Year 7 to Year 9 pupils are set in ability groups and follow the Pearson Edexcel English GCSE syllabus in preparation for Year 10 and Year 11

English Literature is a popular subject at A Level and students follow the Pearson Edexcel Syllabus. Many of our Year 13 leavers who have studied English have gone on to study at Russell Group Universities including Oxford and Cambridge.
