Job description
A fast growing UK accountancy firm are looking to appoint an Accountant to their offices in County Durham supporting the Practice Manger with the day to day delivery of accounting services.
As an Accountant, part-qualified or by experience you will be responsible for reviewing the preparation of year end accounts, management accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and bookkeeping. Working with a mixture of Limited Companies, LLPs, sole traders, and partnerships the main objective is to ensure the effective and timely completion of tasks and maintaining the highest quality of standards.
The day to day:
- Preparation and review of year end and management accounts based on client accounting records working with Excel, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Kashflow or paper records.
- Preparation of personal, partnership and corporation tax computations.
- Review of work prepared by more junior staff.
- Handling client queries. and dealing with HMRC correspondence
- Ensuring records are accurate and all financial statements and records complies with Laws and regulations.
Experience/Skills required:
- We are looking for an Accountant with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in an accounting practice.
- ACCA/ACA is desirable qualified and those working towards these exams will be supported.
- AAT qualified or equivalent is required.
- Applicants must be proficient preparing year end accounts with a knowledge of personal tax and VAT.
- (ACCA/ACA) or qualified by experience Accountant with a minimum of 3 years experience working in practice.
- Good interpersonal skills, particularly verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to delegate work downwards and train people to a required standard.
- Excellent analytical and review skills with the ability to communicate financial issues to senior management and directors.
- Strong commitment to professional client service excellence.
- Confident user of Excel and familiar with any of the following: Xero, Quickbooks, IRIS.
This full-time opportunity is based in the office but does offer flexibility to work across a couple of different office sites.
