Job description
The Department The Radiology Department is well equipped and provides a wide range of services. There is well established skill mix with Radiographers undertaking Plain Film Reporting, CT reporting, and Ultrasound reporting. There is full PACS/RIS desktop integration with PACS stations available throughout the Hospital. There are two 1.5 Tesla MRI Scanners, three Multi-Slice Spiral CT scanners, a dedicated Interventional Suite, ten Ultrasound machines and two SPECT CT Gamma cameras. The department is working towards supporting 7 day working throughout the Trust. The Post The post involves joining a dynamic and growing team of enthusiastic Radiologists providing General Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Breast Imaging and supports a number of sub specialist services. The on-call commitment is currently 1:9; the new post would support a move to 1:10. All cross sectional imaging after 8pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends is outsourced to a Tele radiology facility but the on-call consultant is still expected to be available if needed (in event of technology failure or protocolling issues). About the division of CSS The Division of Clinical Support Services (CSS) is comprised of six Clinical Service Units with a headcount of approximately 630 staff and a divisional budget of approximately £35m. Our aim is to provide responsive, safe and effective support to our patients and service users across the organisation. The Clinical Service Units within the Division of CSS are as follows: Imaging, Physics & Photography: Provides services at the hospital site, Badsley Moor Lane site and at RCHC; including Radiology (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray, DXA, Fluoroscopy and Interventional Radiology); Medical Physics Services (Respiratory Physiology, Cardiac Physiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiopharmacy, Complex cardiac device services); and Medical Photography (clinical and ophthalmic photography). Laboratory Services (Integrated with Barnsley NHS FT): The Barnsley & Rotherham Integrated Laboratory Service (BRILS) provides the following services from across the partnership: Clinical Biochemistry, Point of Care Testing, Haematology, Immunology, Blood Transfusion & Blood Sciences, Microbiology, Mortuary and Histopathology. Out-Patients & Support Services: Provides the following services within the hospital and in the community: Anticoagulation, Main Out-Patient Department & Scarbrough Suite, Phlebotomy, Photopheresis services and the Vascular Access Team (who provide services including the insertion of central lines and other types of vascular catheterisation). In the case of Photopheresis, this service is a specialised service commissioned by NHS England to provide a regional service for the Yorkshire & Humber region. Patient Access: Comprising the Health Records Department, Out-Patient Contact Centre (appointment booking and clinic management), Patient Transport Screening Service, and the Subject Access Request Service. Pharmacy: The Pharmacy Department is responsible for the safe and efficient supply of medicines for inpatients and for discharge from the dispensary on Level C. Additionally, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians provide a clinical pharmacy service at ward level to help optimise medicines use for in-patients. The Pharmacy Manufacturing (Aseptic) Unit on Level A prepares high risk medicines, such as chemotherapy and nutrition bags, in order to treat some of our most unwell patients.
