Job Description

Deputy Head of Clinical Services

Fitzwilliam Hospital, Peterborough

Our company is built on people caring for people. It is an ethos through which we’ve grown to be one of the largest independent healthcare providers in the world. Join us, as our Deputy Head of Clinical Services at Fitzwilliam Hospital in this newly created role and you’ll help deliver the highest quality outcomes for our patients, whilst nurturing a welcoming environment that allows all our staff to develop their skills, careers as well as our services.

Where you’ll be based

Fitzwilliam Hospital has been established for forty years. We offer a wide range of services across 13 specialties. We offer consultant led care, meaning that all our patients are under the direct care of a consultant at each step of their patient care pathway.

What you’ll bring with you

A commitment to the development of high-quality evidence based acute care is essential, combined with personal drive, enthusiasm, creativity and resilience. The role is ideal for a senior clinical leader aspiring to a role as Deputy Head of Clinical Services (Deputy Matron).

You will be working in collaboration with the Head of Clinical Services (Matron), to assist in driving sustainable excellence in safety and quality of care and services.

The role of the Deputy Head of Clinical Services will be to support the Heads of Departments in ensuring the day-to-day operational management of the clinical services are line with best practice. Therefore, it is a requirement that you are a strong leader working in a senior clinical role as you will be required to problem solve and provide direction enabling services to run safely and effectively which may on occasion require you to step in clinically. Communication is a key part of this role as you will be required to influence and change/challenge practices at all levels.

You will be responsible for assisting in the progression of meaningful changes to patient pathways and ensuring they are embedded into the service. The Deputy HOC will act as a lead for all specialities, providing expert advice to nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary teams and taking on the duties of the Head of Clinical Services in their absence. You will have a broad range of knowledge and experience to support quality governance, incident management and data analysis and action.

We care.

It’s more than what we do, it’s who we are. Everything we do is about striving to deliver the best care. And it's a belief that's as true today as it was when we welcomed our first patients in 1964.

“The Ramsay Way” culture recognises that our people are our most important asset and this has been key to our ongoing success.

We are proud to support the UK’s Armed Forces and Reservists and have already achieved the Silver Award as part of the MOD’s Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme. The scheme recognises employers who actively support Defence while encouraging other organisations to adopt the same behaviours in their workplace. As a company we are committed to supporting the wider Armed Forces community and this includes our staff as well as our patients.

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all. This position is subject to background and DBS checks.
