Job description
Our long term client is a successful engineering business who are looking to appoint a Project Design Engineer, you will play a key role within a well-established, high-paced, and dynamic Engineering team. Please note this is not a role for someone just looking to be solely working on producing Solid Works drawings. They need a good all rounder who can also work on all aspects of the project.
Package
£38k per annum plus KPI related bonus of up to £5k per annum (qualify after six-month probation).
22 days holiday + bank holidays

Schedule:
Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of in-house product design and customised project elements. This includes interpreting detailed customer documentation, collaborating with the Sales team to generate quotes based on your findings, and providing support to R&D, Sales, Service, and Production teams while working closely with senior management.
Your role will involve engineering design, overseeing the transition of new products into production, and taking the lead in design activities. You will implement products into production using Project Management principles, demonstrating an understanding of good manufacturing practices. Additionally, as a Project Design Engineer, you will engage in sourcing and consulting with suppliers for purchased components related to design activities.
Given your position, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects, handling allocated tasks, and ensuring timely delivery within set budgets and timeframes. This role demands a comprehensive skill set that combines design expertise with project management proficiency.
This is an office-based position.
Mandatory
Educated to GCSE level/NVQ level 2 and above.
5 + years plus experience in Mechanical design.
SolidWorks proficient
Strong organisational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all areas of the business.
PC literate.
Previous MRP experience and navigating through product structures.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise and react to assigned tasks in accordance with business needs.
Hands-on, process orientated and highly driven self-starter with good planning skills and versatility to adjust to changing priorities.
Desirable
Experience of working in a small to medium sized company.
Mechanical / Engineering /Production experience.
Familiar with Project Management principles.
Electrical knowledge would be advantageous.
Experience in a hazardous environment would be useful
Experience working within a regulated industry preferable.

Qualifications.
Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, or ONC, A Levels, BTec Diploma Level 3 or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification.
Membership of an industry related Professional Body would be advantageous.
