Kyle is a lovely smiley quiet 15-year-old young man. Kyle has ASD, and he is non-verbal, he uses signs and gestures to communicate. Kyle loves to be out and about in the community and likes to visit the park. He is a very sensory child, and enjoys feeling things in his hands, in his mouth and smelling objects. As a result, Kyle enjoys physical and sensory play, which is embedded into his individualized sensory planning for Kyle to access the curriculum.
He loves sensory rooms and playing with all different types of balls. He will engage willingly in ball games and can manage all types of balls. Kyle has amazing hand-eye coordination when playing with a ball. He can bounce and catch confidently and loves interacting with an adult during this time. He can also bounce on a trampoline or trampette and throw, catch and bounce the ball independently, which involves great concentration and skill.
Kyle engages in self-stimulator behaviours such as rocking and making vocalizations to self-stimulate and aid his regulations.
Kyle loves the bubble tube and bubble machine and he'll happily occupy himself for a sustained period.
Kyle loves all genres of music and will listen to a wide range of songs. He particularly enjoys Billy Idol, and his favourite Billy Idol song is “white wedding” he is also partial to listening to Celine Dion and the song “sweet child of mine” by Guns and Roses. Kyle is very motivated by food and really enjoys a wide variety of foods.
Kyle suffers with frequent episodes of epileptic fits that can present as moderate to severe episodes of seizures. After a seizure Kyle will be very sleepy and needs to sleep to recuperate from the seizure. Kyle is a tall boy and when having a seizure, he will often fall to the floor where he is standing so a PA with physical fitness is required to aid him to a safe place to recuperate, usually his bed or the sofa. Kyle is on medication for his seizures which is managed by his mum.
Car driver with clean driving licence essential.
