Consultant | West London NHS Trust

West London Mental Health Trust

Location

Brentford, Greater London | United Kingdom

Job description

We are delighted to advertise two new Consultant Psychiatrist posts funded as part of our local transformation. These 2 full time (10 PAs) Consultant Adult Psychiatrists will provide clinical leadership and psychiatric expertise to our new PCN based multidisciplinary integrated community mental health teams. We are in a unique position in which each Consultant Psychiatrist will be able to develop close links and work alongside GPs in just one PCN as part of the substantial new investment as one of the ‘early implementer’ sites for integrated community mental health services. Our community mental health offer (centred around the Primary Care Networks) will enable comprehensive engagement with Integrated Care Systems using a whole person, whole population health approach. The model will utilise all the community resources available including health, social care, VCSE organisations and local communities and consider resources to support wellbeing outside of mental health services alone.

Candidates should be a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent), and have their CCT or be eligible for inclusion on specialist registrar.

The roles report directly to the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead and Service Manager.

The successful applicants will be based in one of the integrated community mental health teams in Ealing as part of the community and Recovery Mental Health Services service line. The service will comprise a fully integrated mental health team with a visible presence in the local Primary Care Network. There will be a tiered or stepped care model within the MINT team where a more primary care ethos and model of delivery will be used for the majority of patients but those who have more complex needs will have more enhanced support from an allocated clinician as well as the multidisciplinary team. The post will therefore involve consultation/liaison with the MDT as well as GPs, primary care services and other mental health teams. Alongside this there will be some direct consultation with patients particularly around complex cases and crisis prevention. Key working relationships will be with the Clinical Director, GPs, Crisis Team and Early Intervention in Psychosis Service.

We are looking for dynamic individuals with at least 5 years experience of working in mental health services who are excellent clinicians, enthusiastic leaders and mentors and who are passionate about continuous service improvement. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills, a commitment to community care for people with mental illness, and be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively and flexibly with a multi professional team.
