Finance Assistant ,Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education has an exciting opportunity for a new Finance Assistant to join the Faculty Finance Office. The Finance Office is responsible for all areas of financial administration in the Faculty, supporting and enabling both daily operations and longer term strategic aims with effective financial processes, whilst ensuring University financial policies and procedures are followed.
The new post holder will join the existing Finance Team of five who work closely together to provide a high quality comprehensive financial service to the Faculty.
The Role
The overall purpose of the post is to undertake the administration of accounts and maintain financial records within the Faculty in order to contribute to the management of Faculty finances.
The remit of the role covers a range of financial tasks, working across AP, AR, GL and procurement. This will include raising purchase orders, processing payment of invoices, reconciling expenses, setting up new suppliers/customers in the University Finance System (UFS), dealing with supplier or staff queries, receipting income and carrying out month-end procedures.
The role holder will be the first point of contact for faculty staff on financial matters and, supported by the Senior Finance Coordinator, will offer guidance on University processes and procedures, running/reviewing UFS reports for budget holders and ensuring financial information is recorded accurately in the Finance System.
Your Skills
The successful candidate will be educated to A level standard / NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of practical experience, and have worked in an accounts or admin based environment. You will have experience of using Microsoft Office packages (particularly Excel), and have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The postholder will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
