Investment Manager
Axon Moore is delighted to be partnering with a well-established firm as they look to hire an experienced Investment & Portfolio Manager. You would be joining a small team of investment professionals and is a great opportunity to combine traditional M&A transactional activities with ‘hands on’ portfolio management.
Salary - £80,000 - £100,000
Location – Central Manchester / Office based
Responsibilities will include: - Proactive deal origination – identifying new investment opportunities, largely through targeted research and direct approaches
- Effective and efficient project management. Overseeing the end to end M&A process ensuring adherence to timelines, milestones and deliverables
- Robust financial and commercial appraisal of new investment opportunities, presenting investment cases for approval
- Performing robust financial due diligence in house as required on smaller investments
- Development of integrated financial models to forecast likely returns, assess affordability of funding or to explore synergies and development opportunities
- Appointing and managing all required advisors to support transactions
- Liaising with lenders to negotiate and secure debt funding to support equity investment
- Performing valuation analysis and taking an active role in negotiation regarding price and deal structure and all commercial terms
- Preparing and presenting investment papers for approval
- Preparing and reviewing key transactional documents including offer letters, Heads of Terms and legal documents
- Preparing and maintaining internal management reporting as a business and also preparing statutory accounts and tax returns
- Building and maintaining a strong network of relationships with key financial intermediaries and professional advisors
- Market research and analysis as required to stay on top of industry trends and regulatory changes affecting portfolio business or the M&A market in general
- Setting up the required reporting and governance processes appropriate to the business/investment
- Project managing the due diligence process and negotiations to a successful completion, providing effective and timely updates to all stakeholders
- Working closely with management teams, monitoring and influencing financial performance, operational performance and business risk
- Appointing and Managing all advisors appropriate to the sales process
- Ensuring the accurate budgeting and forecasting is maintained within each investee business, supporting the management teams with the development of forecasting models and monthly reporting as required
- Preparing portfolio business for exit with robust succession planning and ensuring financial and operational readiness to maximize value on exit
- Serving on the board of several Investee Companies as appropriate as Finance/Investee companies, whom may have limited financial expertise
- Ensuring all Investee Companies maintain compliance with UK Company filing requirements (Companies House and HMRC)
Person Specification: - Qualified (ACCA, ACA, CA) with at least 5 years post qualified experience either in a Corporate Finance advisory role or commercially focused finance role
- Strong financial acumen and proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques and deal structuring
- Proven track record of executing M&A transactions is essential
- Strong teamwork ethic, offering support to colleagues and driving towards objectives and shared goals
- Ability to work effectively in a fast pace and deadline driven environment
- High levels of flexibility and resilience
- Analytical mindset and the ability to analyse complex financial, business and market data
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal as well as experience of diverse stakeholder management
