Job description
Focusing predominately on Menswear, you will work in conjunction with other category designers and buyers to deliver the best FatFace product ranges exceeding our customers¿ expectations. Creating commercial yet innovative and unique ranges that deliver the FatFace style, attention to detail and product that is built to last. This position is a 9-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
Responsibilities: - Responsible for the design of garments for all phases and seasons
- Own category ownership in addition to supporting across the department when necessary
- CAD range plans to ensure choice through range and key looks are delivered
- Create design packs and hand over to suppliers, ensuring full understanding for creation of garment samples
- Work across suppliers to build relationships to deliver best product possible
- Ensure fit, silhouette and details deliver FatFace style DNA working alongside garment technologist & buyer to deliver
- Liaise with Buyers on costs/margins to ensure that the range can realistically be bought within given budgets
- Present ranges to team and directors for sign off and adjustments
- Research themes and directions to support Senior team in Design Direction presentations
- Create and present trend packs, mood boards and forecasts to include key items for following seasons in preparation for department strategy & sign off
- Lead and support assistants to their full potential
Skills and Experience
- Degree or equivalent in Fashion based subject
- Experience designing checks and weave pattern ¿ desirable, not essential
- Experience at Designer/ Junior Designer level within a Fashion company
- Presentation Skills
- Ability to communicate with externals and Senior Management
- Good research skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload
- Creative, a passion for fashion and detail
- A team player who can support across categories where required
Competencies:
- Knowledge of garment construction, treatments, fabrics and sustainable choices
- Good knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
- Ability to draw garments clearly and accurately
- Understanding of colour stories and levels
- Ability to convey designs from paper to 3D design
- Good Knowledge of Factory processes
- Creative and able to convey vision of Fat Face Brand
- Comprehensive understanding of customer profile, product range & competitors.
- Demonstrate knowledge of trend within the marketplace
- Articulate current and future trends for category
