Lancashire Child and Youth Justice Service works with children aged 8-18 either involved with or at risk of entering the Youth Justice System. Our guiding principles as a service are:

Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust are pleased to announce the development of a Criminal Youth Justice Service and we are currently recruiting to cover Fylde and Wyre and Central regions.

The successful applicants will ensure children and their families/carers are supported by working alongside Social Workers to contribute to assessments and interventions to achieve positive outcomes.  

Main duties of the job

This is a highly developed specialist role and the post holder will be required to have an in-depth knowledge and experience of mental health services and how this impacts on and increases the vulnerability of children and adults at risk of abuse or neglect.

Assist the Child & Youth Justice Health Lead in co-ordinating provision to children and their families across Lancashire.

To analyse and communicate sensitive and complex information in relation to the safeguarding/MCA agenda within the organisation and to partner agencies as necessary.

To support and strengthen the knowledge and confidence of CYJS professionals working within the team, in relation to the health needs of children and young people.

To increase accessibility and develop a coordinated response to children’s health needs across agencies and professional boundaries ensuring all young people are offered a health assessment.

Increase the early identification of physical, emotional, and mental health in children and young people referred to the YJS. This could include providing short-term interventions and referrals to specialist services.

Assist young people to address their own health needs, identifying how their unmet health needs are contributing to their offending behaviour and supporting with this this when needed.

Provide a clear pathway and referral to other agencies, through the CYJS Family Strategy for families experiencing health problems.

 

 

Working for our organisation

The £7k Welcome Bonus package applies to this role.  The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role; e.g. a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 24 months of employment. This bonus is applicable to any successful candidate whose interview for this role is conducted prior to 30th June 2024.

The £7k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
