Lead Plant Process Engineer in Hersham, UK LOCATION: Hersham (Chertsey from September 2024), Surrey, UK EXPERIENCE with commissioning and start-up, process technical leadership to operating plants; remote support to operating environment
CONTRACT: permanent SALARY: competitive salary + benefits + annual bonus As the Lead Plant Process Engineer, you will… - Provide process technical leadership to a range of operating plants, largely Air Separation Units but also Hydrogen and CO2 facilities across the EMEA region.
- Focus on commissioning and start-up activities across these facilities related to both brown field plant modifications and greenfield applications.
- Provide senior technical support for Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI), commissioning, start-up and performance testing.
- Work closely with the project organization to effectively plan and organize bringing new equipment onstream within schedule.
- Produce and supervise the production of commissioning documentation and operating procedures.
- Work closely with and coordinate the various technical disciplines: Controls, electrical, machinery, piping, to ensure accurate transfer of information between disciplines during commissioning and start-up activities.
- Provide senior technical support for plant trouble shooting, underperformance and non-standard plant activities (defrosts, cooldowns, Adsorbent or catalyst loading).
- Process input for major plant maintenance shutdowns, including planning, review and approval of isolation procedures, preparing plants for shutdown and restart post shutdown.
- Support the engineering design phase with input into deliverables, including PID change notes, equipment specification, control philosophies, shutdown cause and effects, Hazard Study, plot layouts and piping reviews.
- Obtain technical approval of process documentation and management of change where appropriate.
- Provide technical supervision and coaching to junior process engineers to support their development and growth. particularly around practical aspects of the role.
- Optimise and develop work processes to ensure effective process support to plants and projects.
As the Lead Plant Process Engineer, you already are or have… We are looking for someone like you - with the ability to self-motivate and work on own initiative, as well as with the ability to support the wider team, and with excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling collaboration.
- A high level of technical expertise ideally suited to someone with a chemical engineering or related degree with relevant technical experience.
- Experience working in an operations environment with extensive onsite plant experience, including commissioning and start-up and a practical ‘hands-on’ approach
- Discipline to work to a schedule
- Manage competing priorities with the ability to adapt
- Ability to travel throughout the European region to support site/project activities
