A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.
The appointee will join an enthusiastic and friendly Emergency Medicine department which is an integral part of the Division of Medicine at the QEH.
The successful post holder should ensure the continued delivery of high-quality care to patients within the trust and to contribute to the further development of the Emergency Medicine service.
You will provide support and leadership to the Emergency department nursing and medical staff.
The appointed consultant would be expected to contribute to the on-going service improvement programme developing:
• Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)
• Cost Improvement programme (CIP)
• Implementing evidence based new ways of working when necessary

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is West Norfolk has a superb unspoilt coastline with pretty villages, all with their own individual charm. The medieval port of King's Lynn has some very interesting architecture.
We provide a comprehensive range of specialist and general acute services to around 331,000 people across West and North Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers and approximately 500 beds on a single site. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech. We work in partnership with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services.
In February 2022 the QEH the Care Quality Commission rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).
Clinical
• Provide senior clinician services to the Emergency Department as per job plan or as agreed within the Trust, and as required when on call.
• Provide clinical leadership to the department when undertaking clinical care, taking lead clinical responsibility as rostered on a day to day basis. Facilitate safe and effective clinical care
• Lead on service design and development to help with establishing pre-operative patient assessment
• Work with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trusts resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit.
• Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions after discussion with the clinical manager, as the need arises.
• Actively participate in the Units Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
Organisational
• Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals.
• To act as clinical/educational supervisor to locally employed doctors and doctors in training programmes of a variety of grades and experience as appropriate.
• To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
• To provide leadership and support for the effective development of the service.
• To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• To further develop clinical protocols, guidelines, and concise care bundles.
• To carry out responsibilities with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
• To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff and attend all relevant health and safety training.
• To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
• To carry out annual performance reviews with each member of their staff.
• To agree annual personal development plans with their staff and support them with any training or development requirements to fulfil their role.
• To attend all relevant management training in health and safety, risk assessment etc.
• To participate in personal objective setting and review, including the creation of a personal development plan and the Trust’s appraisal process.
