Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Geriatrician to join our healthcare team. The primary role of this position is to provide comprehensive medical care to the elderly, focusing on managing and preventing the various health issues that arise with aging. This dynamic role encompasses both the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions, as well as the implementation of preventive healthcare measures tailored to the unique needs of elderly patients.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose illnesses, functional disabilities, and other health-related conditions prevalent among the elderly.
- Developing and implementing personalised treatment plans that address the multifaceted health care needs of elderly patients.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care, including the coordination of care with other healthcare professionals and family members.
- Advising patients and their families on healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention strategies specific to geriatric care.
- Monitoring and adjusting treatment plans as necessary for chronic conditions, ensuring the highest standard of care.
- Staying abreast of advancements in geriatric medicine and integrating new practices into patient care.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, followed by completion of a residency in geriatric medicine.
- GMC certification with a specialty in geriatrics is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in geriatric medicine or a closely related field.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with elderly patients and their families.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple patients and complex cases effectively.
- Compassion and patience, with a genuine interest in improving the health and well-being of elderly patients.
- Preferred: Experience in palliative care and end-of-life care planning.
